1985, is a Japanese photographer. Born in Niigata, Japan, he studied philosophy at Rissho University before working at Gaien Studio. He later moved to Nagasaki, where encounters with Shōmei Tōmatsu and other photographers became central to his photographic development and led him to begin working independently as an artist. He is currently based in Tokyo.

His early work emerged from close involvement with underground music and youth communities, including punk and skate scenes in Osaka and other cities. Working through direct immersion in the environments he photographs, he has developed projects focused on nightlife, subculture, and collective experience. Series such as Tsugi no yoru e and RAMA LAMA DING DONG established his early reputation through black-and-white photographs characterized by proximity, movement, and a subjective documentary approach.

His later work expanded toward more conceptual and formally varied projects, including photographs of nightclub floors, suburban Tokyo at night, and long-term personal journeys. Photobooks form a central part of his practice, with publications including Tsugi no yoru e (2013), ground (2014), RAMA LAMA DING DONG (2015), Into the Light (2017), Doors (2020), ONSEN I (2023), and ONSEN MMXXIV (2024). Alongside these publications, he has exhibited internationally in Japan, Europe, China, and the United States, including presentations at KYOTOGRAPHIE, the Tokyo International Photography Festival, and exhibitions in New York, Amsterdam, and Paris.
