Regina Anzenberger's artist statement:
My artistic journey is deeply rooted in a long-standing fascination with nature. In my work, I transcend the boundaries of classical photography by expanding photographs with painterly and drawing elements. This creates works that open up the perception of nature in a new, poetic way. At the core of my practice is the personal reflection on lived experiences and global events. The landscapes I photograph are not merely visual impressions, but carriers of stories and emotions. Each image tells a story that goes beyond the visible, intertwining personal experiences with universal themes of nature. I see nature as a dynamic, ever-changing medium that I strive to capture in all its complexity. By integrating found objects from nature, I aim to create a direct connection to the place of origin and extend the photographic impressions into physical space. My work invites viewers to question familiar perspectives and to experience the world with an open and curious eye.
For me, the book is not only a medium, but also an object – an expanded space where idea, process, and design converge. It often forms the core of serial and thematic work and marks the culmination of a project. As a designed artifact, it is inseparably linked to the exhibition space – not just as a document, but as an independent, expressive part of the work itself.

Biography:
Born in Vienna and raised in Pressbaum, Lower Austria; painting and photography since age 13. Twelve years painting with oil and red sand from the Australian desert; artist, curator, founder and director of the Anzenberger Agency and Gallery; director of the ViennaPhotoBookFestival 2013-2017. Curator of the Foto Wien BOOK DAYS 2023 and 2025. Corresponding member of the German Photographic Association. Personal artistic projects include exhibitions and publications such as Philodendron (2006),  Roots & Bonds (2015), Imperfections(Collector's Portfolio, 2016), Goosewalk (2019, ), Shifting Roots (2020), Gstettn (2021), Under the Apple Tree (2022), Roots & Bonds (second edition, 2022), Roots & Waltz (2023), Imperfections (2024) and The Australian Journey (2025). Lives and works in Vienna.
