1980, is an Irish artist working with photography and video. Born in Kilkenny, Ireland, he studied English literature at King’s College London (BA, 2001), cultural studies at the London Consortium (MRes, 2003), fine art at Goldsmiths, University of London (Postgraduate Diploma, 2005), and photography at the Yale School of Art (MFA, 2008).

His work focuses on contemporary conflicts, humanitarian crises, migration, and environmental destruction. Mosse has worked in regions including Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Palestine, Haiti, the Balkans, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. His projects often employ specialized imaging technologies—such as infrared film and surveillance cameras—to produce images that reveal aspects of these situations not normally visible to the human eye.

He gained international recognition with the project Infra, which used discontinued Kodak Aerochrome infrared film to photograph armed conflict in eastern Congo, rendering landscapes and military subjects in vivid false colors. This body of work led to the multi-screen film installation The Enclave, presented in the Irish Pavilion at the 55th Venice Biennale and awarded the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize in 2014.

Later projects include Incoming (2017), addressing migration and displacement using military-grade thermal imaging technology, and Broken Spectre (2022), a large-scale installation and film documenting environmental destruction and deforestation in the Amazon basin.
