1967, is an Israeli-born photographer. Born in Tel Aviv, he emigrated with his family to New York City at the age of seven, grew up there, and began photographing at eighteen. He has exhibited internationally and lives in New York.

His work has been published in photobooks including End Time City (1999; 2021), Fiction (2001), Half Life (2010), Epilogue (2019), and Smoke (2023). End Time City, published by Robert Delpire, received the Prix Nadar in 1999. His photographs have also appeared in a wide range of publications, including Aperture, Granta, The New York Times Sunday Magazine, The New Yorker, and The Village Voice.

Ackerman’s work is held in the permanent collections of institutions including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Bibliothèque nationale de France. His awards include the Infinity Award for Young Photographer from the International Center of Photography in 1998, the Prix Nadar in 1999, and the SCAM Roger Pic Award in 2009. He has exhibited widely in Europe and the United States since the 1990s.
