1958, is a Belgian photographer. Born in Eeklo, he lives and works in Ghent. He studied photography and film at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent from 1977 to 1981.

Since the mid-1980s he has developed a body of photographic work characterized largely by monochrome images and a focus on atmosphere, texture, and light. In addition to individual photographs, he has created site-specific installations for projects and exhibitions, including works presented in Ostend and at the Watou arts and poetry festival.

Braeckman has also published artist’s books, including z.Z(t). I and z.Z(t). II, as well as Chiaroscuro, produced in connection with a commission for the Belgian Royal Palace. His work has appeared in magazines, catalogues, and books, and in 2017 he represented Belgium at the Venice Biennale.
