Roberto Boccaccino - Boy Old Boy, Witty Books, 2014, Turin

Softcover, edition of 100 copies, hand numbered and hand bound.
„In Þingeyri there are no kids older than 15 years old. Neither one. There is a simple reason for that, the same reason why, despite it all, in this small town there are still children who are less than 15 years old. This reason is school.
In Þingeyri, primary school takes these 5 years blond children and gives them back when they are nothing but teenagers. At sixteen years old, if they want to continue with their education, these children are forced to move away from their own homes, because their hometown is too much isolated. So at sixteen they leave Þingeyri, and hardly come back.
Þingeyri is a place made of absence. However, even if there are no people, images and other common things, Þingeyri will always be a place, just because you can perceive, you can actually see that absence. When we miss something (and when we desire it so badly), that means that this “thing” actually exists, as Þingeyri does in all its essence. And it exists just around those things which used to be there, one inch forward or back, a moment sooner or later. I wanted to focus on this boundary between essence and absence, on that particular moment when they defines and touch one another. I wanted to tell the story of what is absent showing the last piece of what remained.“ (Roberto Boccaccino)
