Void
Void is an art-house publisher of photography books.
Void prides itself on its independent spirit: investing in market-defying projects, self-funding the books it engages with, and compensating artists fairly.
Void is home to books that would not find a place elsewhere. Never compromising, its projects mix unique narratives with innovative design and fine experimental materials. A hands-on dedication can be felt in every project the publisher embarks on.
Established in 2016, the project is driven by its founders Myrto Steirou and João Linneu. In the Void catalogue, one finds debut books by photographers at their first career steps, side by side with established artists such as Yorgos Lanthimos, Tehching Hsieh, Claudia Andujar and Olivia Arthur. Despite commercial challenges, Void remains committed to fostering young blood — having revealed many talents and launched several career-defining titles.
In 2021, Void became a member of Futures Photography, furthering its mission to foment emerging talents.
Void is dedicated to the dissemination and accessibility of its books and their stories to bookstores, libraries and public collections worldwide. Its partner Idea Books distributes the catalogue globally. The entire catalogue is collected by MoMA, with many titles archived in over 180 public libraries.
At a non-predictable timeline, Void also runs its book-making workshops, Impromptu, offering an opportunity to share its vision of photography books with new and exciting talents.
