Julie Delabarre - Deauville, ville fleurie, Caravanbook, 2017, Madrid
Softcover, translation by Itziar Yagüe, design by Caravanbook.
Deauville, ville fleurie by Julie Delabarre is a project that the author carried out in a residence during the Planche (s) Contact festival in Deauville in 2014. At the beginning of the 20th century, the coast where Deauville is located was named Côte Fleurie (Flowery Coast), as a tourist differentiation to attract vacationers. With the use of very subtle photomontages, Delabarre plays with flowers, gardens and street furniture to question the image and tourist representation provided by the name of the place and its relations with the city.
