The work of four of the greatest photographers. Albin Guillot is considered a representative of the “expressive nude”; Man Ray illustrates the “stylized nude,” and Schall the “realistic nude”; as for Boucher, he is associated with the “phantasmagoria of the nude.” In a rather skillful sentence, Natkin thus distinguished the aesthetics of each: “To summarize the different tendencies: Guillot photographs what she feels, Man Ray what he thinks, Pierre Boucher what he dreams, and one could add that Schall photographs what he sees.” (C.
