Nobuyoshi Araki - Benjo (高瀬芳夫 荒木経惟 便所 ゲリバラ5), Fukushu-Shudan, Geribara-5, 1971, Tokyo

Softcover. Yoshio Takase & Nobuyoshi Araki (Geribara 5)

"Geribara 5 was an avant-garde collective formed in the wake of the dissolution of the Provoke group dissolution, and very much in the same irreverent, neo-Dada spirit. This book is the first (and probably the most coveted) of the three they published. As Parr and Badger write, "Benjo (Toilet), is one of those photobooks that startles simply by virtue of its subject-matter. It may be regarded as either a brilliant post-Duchampian exercise in neo-Dada camp, or a schoolboy scatological joke – or both." (photo-eye)
