The Velvet Cell
Is a Germany-based photobook publisher established in 2011 by Éanna de Fréine and currently run by visual artist Ricardo Nunes. Its publishing program is rooted primarily in themes of urbanization and the human-altered world.
The publisher focuses on producing photography books that are conceived as carefully crafted works, emphasizing visual clarity, content, and production quality. Over more than a decade of activity, it has become known for publishing photography projects by both established and emerging artists, with attention given to every stage of the bookmaking process and to reflecting the diversity of contemporary visual arts publishing.
