What do we point the camera at, and what are our photographs about?

ABC Diary consists of three photo books featuring subject areas I have photographed over the years (1980–2025): animals, buildings, and cars. Hence the English titles Animal Diary, Building Diary, and Car Diary. The places where the images were taken are presented in alphabetical order—a combination of geography and photography.

The purpose of the books is to inspire and support the participants I mentor in photography, especially younger ones. Using photography as a language, I want to spark curiosity, strengthen storytelling, and create space for exploration and reflection.

Animal Diary

Animals are everywhere around us, wild and domesticated. Most animals are intelligent and have impressive memories. They have emotions and communicate in different ways. No matter where animals are found, we live side by side with them.

Photographs from the years 1987 to 2025. The places where the images were taken are presented in alphabetical order—a combination of geography and photography.

Building Diary

Every building carries a story and serves different functions in people’s lives. Some are public, others privately owned. Some symbolize power and defense; others are luxury apartments for the wealthy. At the same time, many people live in slums or barracks, while others lack both a workplace and a home. Some people live in tents and are on the move after their homes have been destroyed.

Car Diary

A passenger car is driven on the roads for an average of four percent of its lifetime. The remaining ninety-six percent of the time, the car is stationary.
