"Esto Ha Sido shouts analog photography. Here, the atoms of the surfaces we see were originally modified by the subtlety of rays, that is, by light inevitably reflected by those who, for a split second, were facing the lens. This book is a short walk through documentary photography and storytelling made in the depths of the American Continent." — Luis Weinstein
Esto Ha Sido starts with a photograph of a misteriously empty flight of stairs - on the same site where Sergio Larrain photographed two girls descending, one in shadow, the other in sunlight - followed by a newspaper front cover that says: "JUNTA MILITAR TOMO EL CONTROL / ALLENDE SE SUICIDO". Weinstein's latest book is a photographic narrative of the days of hope and despair following the overthrow of President Salvador Allende and the soon to come consolidation of General Pinochet's dictatorship.
