Photos printed in heliogravure, hardcover with dustjacket.
"However we might choose to pigeonhole its style, Zwei Gramm Licht is a fine photobook, an urban mood piece that chronicles the photographer's wanderings across the postwar European landscape. Opening with three shots of caravan shanty towns, the journey is a gloomily romantic one. This mood is emphasized by the ravishingly dark gravure printing, craggy urban por-traits, a wrecked car, grizzled tramps. Wicki's view of the human condition might be exemplified by a photograph he makes of a pretty, pensive young girl, caught - or trapped - behind the bars of a fence. Generally, this dark mood is sustained throughout. It is, indeed, fairly relentless, but Wicki allows us a glimmer of hope: the book ends, like Jean-Philippe Charbonnier's Chemins de la vie (The Roads of Life) (see page 210), with two people walking down a country road - perhaps towards freedom."
