For some unknown circumstances one day I happened to stumble upon a running competition. It was almost impossible not to be absorbed in the liveliness of this event happening in the heart of the city. I discovered a new world made out of hundreds of people and a splendid bounty of color and decibels. What impressed me the most was that just as everything had appeared out of nowhere, a few hours later no trace of it was left behind.
Shortly thereafter, I went back to see another running event and continued to do so for more than three years. During this span of time two questions kept popping in mind: Why do these people run? What makes them get up so early on a Sunday (or even on a Saturday) to jog in the city, sometimes far away from home, sometimes in the middle of the rain, sometimes on a cold day? (Igor Retana)
