Thomas Nondh Jansen - De olifant die niet wist of hij verdwaald was, Uitgeverij Leopold, 2016, Amsterdam

Hardcover, design by Jelle Koper, text by Bart Eysink Smeets. Printrun: 2500.

„Photographer Thomas Nondh Jansen (Bangkok, 1985) was adopted from Thailand by his Dutch parents. He graduated from the Royal Academy of Art The Hague (NL).
In his work he searches for a place between the two cultures that he feels a connection with. He often wonders where he comes from and where he feels at home. So, he travels. He travels through his bedroom, his kitchen and the garden of his house. But also through the Dutch landscape, searching for a hint of Asia. This is his way of discovering and becoming familiar with the places he calls home.

One day Thomas sees a plastic elephant standing in a garden. He is amazed and immediately fascinated and wants to take a picture of the elephant. This is the beginning of the journey of a little baby elephant through the Netherlands. Through the seasons in search of his roots. The photographs are collected in the picture book 'De olifant die niet wist of hij verdwaald was' (The elephant that did not know it was lost). Bart Eysink Smeets wrote the poetic tekst in Dutch.“
